David' Pet-Friendly Information

San Francisco is in many ways a pet-friendly city. However, there are some condominiums and co-ops that either do not allow pets or restict the size/weight of the pets. I work very hard to find you a place that meets your pets' needs as well as yours.

My favorite off-leash dog areas: Lafayette Park, Alta Plaza Park, Alamo Square, Buena Vista Park, the Presidio, Crissy Field, Fort Funston, Dolores Park, Bernal Heights Dog Area and Baker Beach (west side).

The SPCA and Perfect Paws are good places for dog classes. B&B (Geary and 12th) is a good place to purchase dog supplies. Every dog owner has a preference when it comes to vets., but I like Pets Unlimited (Fillmore and Washington) because they are seem to care about the pets, many of their veterinarians are competent and they are open 24 hours for emergencies.

Wags (on Polk Street) offers pet teeth cleaning without anesthesia (about $75); the woman who does it is great with animals and does not even secure the animal other than with her hands.

MUNI allows pets on its buses (one dog at a time, muzzled- I have used a "gentle leader" and the bus drivers do not know the difference).

The better department stores (Nordstrom's, Bloomingdale's and even Macy's)  all allow dogs on leash.

A number of  restaurants have patios where dogs are welcome
